Scots Pine as a Resource

Developing the Scots Pine Resource

This project aims to encourage greater use of Scots pine in high value markets as a basis for supporting forestry related businesses.

Objectives
  • Improve people's knowledge of Scots pine's properties and its suitability to different uses

  • Encourage innovation and promote greater use of Scots pine in construction

  • Develop new tools for forecasting forest production (in terms of timber volume and quality) and pricing mechanisms that better reflect variations in timber quality

  • Publish forestry guidance on growing good quality Scots pine

The project is funded through the Northern Periphery Programme and includes Scottish, Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian partners.
